We love our families, and our families love us. Read what they have to say!
My child is not a number, she is known by name. I have no fight in the morning to want her to go to school. I'm excited about the fact that she's excited about going to school and looks forward to going. She's doing her work. Her teachers show a caring attitude.

Our son loves the Organic school. He is thriving and happy. He is surrounded by wonderful people who nurture his development through encouragement. We love that his naturally energetic spirit is welcomed and that his learning style is acknowledged.

We found the Organic School after moving from the West Coast as my son began seventh grade. The move and the age presented their difficulties, but in a matter of weeks he was truly at home at Organic. It was the teachers, the practically family-size classes, the involved and accepting students. Organic School won his trust and changed his life. If it had a high school, he’d be attending it; instead, my formerly silent observer is a successful public high schooler, invited to join an honor society, holding his own in a group of friends, pursuing his music, planning college.

My 12-year-old “Aspie” was characteristically slow to warm up to Organic School. But change came a few weeks in, and it changed everything. For the three years he attended, he loved his school, loved his teachers, had actual relationships with other students around him, full of humor, full of exploration. He still loves Organic School; he’s even been able to find good things in the public school he attends now, all because, as I see it, Organic built his capacity for trust, showed him he’s a strong student with much to offer, and allowed him to feel the satisfaction of manifesting his potential.
The school makes learning an enjoyable experience again. I am so glad to have the chance to go here. The high school program at the Marietta Johnson School of Organic Education is a very good experience. We learn many things and have fun at the same time. On thing that we learn is to make our own pottery. We do the whole process ourselves, including gathering the clay. Pottery is not all we do, though. We also learn the fundamentals of art. We have Spanish every morning. We are encouraged to go outside during our breaks to learn and explore the wilderness. These are just a few examples of what we do in our high school program.

The high school program at the Marietta Johnson Organic School for me is a new way to look at school. Every Thursday and Friday I wake up and look forward to going to school, learning something new and discussing what I learned with the friends I have made there. The atmosphere in the classroom is always relaxed yet focused which is ultimately the perfect environment. Even when the subject is changed I always learn something new and interesting. To me it is the best high school program around and I am proud to call myself a student at The Marietta Johnson Organic School.

I am a graduate of the Organic School, class of 1984. My first organic experience occurred when I was a student of Mrs. Williamson in 3rd Life. Our desks were always positioned so that we could interact with one another visually and verbally, in a circle. We were not "shushed," as I had been in public school (I spent a lot of time banished to standing outside the classroom door hoping the principal would not come along and paddle me during my public school experience because I was a big talker...). We worked together as a class to construct a beautiful crocheted rug made out of rags (a "ragrug") large enough to cover nearly half of the large classroom in the Bell Building. We spent a lot of time lounging on the rug we had made reading, discussing, and learning in a relaxed atmosphere. In retrospect, I was not a traditional learner, and easily bored. The climate at the school allowed me to achieve more than I ever would have in the daunting public school system. I loved folk dancing, unlike many of my classmates. I wish I was still as graceful and fun-loving as I was back then. I was proud to be able to say that my father and two aunts attended the school years before my brother (Kennedy Laraway) and I attended.

I believe that the school is a great opportunity to learn knowledge that you choose to learn yourself. The program also allows you to have hands on knowledge.

Well my older grandson loves the 2 day per week program to prep for the GED and my younger grandson spent one "trial" day there in his own grade level and said "It was one of the best days of my life". Very high praise indeed for a school to get!
